Islamic EducationConcept Redesign

ASWJ Islamic College Melbourne

A concept redesign for an Islamic college whose homepage was a generic "online programming course" template, Lorem ipsum copy, React and Python logos, and fabricated testimonials. Their genuinely strong offering, a one-year Diploma of Islamic Studies, was buried on a separate /knowledge/ page. We brought it front and centre as one cohesive, branded landing page.

Before & After

The original generic template versus the redesigned Diploma landing page

Original (WordPress template)
ASWJ College original homepage, a generic online-course template
Redesign (Taqwanology)
ASWJ College redesigned Diploma of Islamic Studies homepage by Taqwanology

Original Issues

  • Homepage is a generic LMS template full of Lorem ipsum
  • 'Technologies You Will Learn' lists React, Python, Angular
  • Testimonials are fake, placeholder names and Lorem ipsum
  • The real Diploma is buried on a separate /knowledge/ page
  • No course/education structured data; misleading alt text

Our Improvements

  • Bespoke emerald & gold Islamic-education brand system
  • 100% real content: program, 6 subjects, fees, schedule, FAQ
  • Fabricated testimonials removed (no invented quotes/stats)
  • The Diploma is the homepage, with a clear enrolment path
  • EducationalOrganization + Course JSON-LD and accurate alt text

The content was there, just buried

Their Diploma of Islamic Studies page (at /knowledge/) already had strong content, but it lived on a separate page that looked nothing like the homepage. Our redesign makes that offering the centrepiece and wraps it in a consistent brand.

What We Improved

Design

Generic 'online programming course' template, barely customised
Bespoke Islamic-education design in emerald & gold with calligraphy
Lorem ipsum placeholder copy across the homepage
100% real program content, clearly structured
Random tech-stack logos (React, Python, Angular) on the homepage
The six actual Shariah subjects presented with Arabic titles
Homepage and the Diploma page look like two different sites
One cohesive brand system across every section

Content & Trust

Fabricated testimonials ("Emma Hart", "Eddie Johnson") with Lorem ipsum quotes
Fake testimonials removed entirely, no invented quotes or stats
Real offering (Diploma of Islamic Studies) buried at /knowledge/
The Diploma is the homepage, front and centre
Fees, schedule and subjects hard to find
Fees, schedule, subjects and FAQ all on one scroll
No clear enrolment path on the homepage
Persistent 'Enrol Now' CTA plus a dedicated registration section

SEO & Structured Data

Homepage optimised for 'programming courses', not Islamic studies
Title, meta and keywords targeted to Islamic studies in Melbourne
No Course or EducationalOrganization structured data
EducationalOrganization + Course JSON-LD for rich results
Generic template metadata, no social cards
Unique OpenGraph / Twitter cards and a canonical URL
Misleading alt text ('online-programming-course-review')
Accurate, descriptive alt text throughout

User Experience

Cart / checkout chrome surfaced on an enrolment site
Clean, enrolment-focused navigation
Emoji used as primary section iconography
Refined line icons and Arabic letterforms
No mobile-considered layout
Fully responsive with a mobile menu and stacked layouts
No visual hierarchy or brand identity
Cormorant Garamond + Inter type system with gold accents
